Leopard demonstrates its commitment to the environment through action.

We were the first bus company in New Zealand to run our entire fleet on bio-fuel during a 12-month trial, which ended in May 2008. We did it because we care about the environment and want to help make a difference.

Bio-fuel Trial

We are continuing to trial bio-fuel in our buses on an ongoing basis and are also testing LPG as way to reduce diesel emissions.

We realise the environmental benefits of bio-fuels and decided to take a lead, ahead of the Government’s proposed regulations.

The bio-diesel for the Leopard fleet is manufactured by Bio Diesel Oils NZ Ltd in Christchurch, from waste tallow from the meat industry. It is blended with standard diesel to form the B5 mix.

Bike Racks and Water Recycling

We are also trialling bike racks on some of our Christchurch city buses, which are proving popular with local cyclists.

Other eco-friendly measures include the use of a water-recycling bus wash at our Christchurch depot and we are always looking for new ways to help protect the environment.
