We were the first bus company in New Zealand to run our entire fleet on bio-fuel during a 12-month trial, which ended in May 2008. We did it because we care about the environment and want to help make a difference.
Bio-fuel Update
Leopard Coachlines is now using Bio-Diesel in all of its fleet effective Mid February 2010. We realise the environmental benefits of bio-fuels and reducing carbon admission and decided to take the lead. This is after our successful trials.
The bio-diesel for the Leopard fleet is manufactured by Bio Diesel NZ, a renewal fuel from Solid Engery. It is blended with standard diesel to form the B5 mix and is called Bio-Gold.
Bike Racks and Water Recycling
We are also trialling bike racks on 7 of our Christchurch city buse routes and 25 urban buses which are proving popular with local cyclists.
Other eco-friendly measures include the use of a water-recycling bus wash at our Christchurch depot and we are always looking for new ways to help protect the environment. |
